Genesis has big plans to expand its portfolio. The brand will soon add a new SUV to its delivery range, which will compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3.
Hyundai’s luxury brand is engaged in a major round of renewal. In a relatively short period of time, the brand added a facelifted G90, the completely new G80, the also fresh GV80 and the facelifted G70 to its American and Korean delivery range. The G70 will even get one in the long run shooting brakevariant, but it doesn’t stop there. The GV80, an SUV that you should consider as a direct opponent of the BMW X5, gets a smaller SUV brother in the form of the GV70. Genesis now shows the first images of that car.
The GV70 is covered with an exciting sticker sheet with a nice psychedelic print, a pattern that gave Genesis the flashy name G-Matrix. The gigantic shield-shaped grille and the LED lighting on both the front and rear, built up of horizontal lines, are already visible. With these style elements, it is in line with other Genesis models. The GV70 has to compete with the Q5 from Audi and the GLC and X3 from Mercedes-Benz and BMW respectively. We’re aiming for the GV70 to share much of its engineering with the G70, Genesis’s smallest sedan already mentioned. The car is in principle a rear-wheel drive, although there are also versions with four-wheel drive.
Genesis is currently preparing for a large-scale market launch in Europe.
