Genesis’s international delivery range is getting even more interesting. The luxury division of Hyundai is adding the GV70 to its line-up in the near future, a brand new SUV of which the brand is releasing the first photos today.
The Genesis models were either facelifted or completely changed in a relatively short period of time. One of the brand’s first truly new models was the GV80, an SUV with which Genesis wants to make life difficult for the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, among others. Genesis is sharpening its knives and also intends to use its weaponry against the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Lexus NX and Lincoln Corsair. The all-new GV70 that Genesis has presented today should make that battle possible.
Like its big SUV brother GV80, and basically all of the brand’s models, the GV70 has a nose with two-layer headlamps separated by a thin strip of sheet metal. In the midst of those viewers, we see a large shield-shaped grille. The GV70 also shows strong similarities with its sister models at the rear. With the GV70, the lighting is also made up of two horizontal elements. Where X5 competitor GV80 has a relatively straight rear, the roof line of this GV70 slopes quite strongly towards the rear. The design of the C-pillar is also striking. The car is basically a rear-wheel drive, although there are also versions with four-wheel drive. The red copy in the photos is a Sport version of which Genesis, just like the complete GV70 line, will release more information about it soon. Technical data will therefore remain out for a while.
Genesis GV70
The GV70, whose letters ‘GV’ in its name stand for Genesis Versatile, has an interior that is completely in line with that of its recently unveiled models. This medium-sized SUV also has a relatively minimalist interior over which a classic sauce has been poured.
Genesis is currently preparing for a large-scale market launch in Europe. In particular the G70, of which a shooting brake will also appear, and these new GV70 are models suitable for Europe. Although we keep our fingers crossed that the G80 and G90 are also shipped to our part of the world.
