GM considering smaller Hummer EV

Smaller is still big

GM considering smaller Hummer EV

The new GMC Hummer EV is big, very big. General Motors seems to be aware of this too, because a slightly smaller electric Hummer is reportedly being considered.

More than 1,000 hp, a battery of 213 kWh, 5.51 meters long and over 4,000 kg in weight. The Hummer EV may be electric, but it is above all a genuine, lavish American. There is undoubtedly a market for that, but little outside the United States. According to Bloomberg, quoted by Automotive News, there are therefore internal whispers about the arrival of a smaller model under the Hummer label. Then that is probably still a very large container, but also a vehicle that can appeal to a slightly wider target group.

With a smaller Hummer, history would essentially repeat itself. After all, the ‘old’ Hummer was created with the civilian version of what was later to be called the H1, followed by the slightly smaller H2 and H3. Hummer is now formally no longer a brand, although you have to look for the brand name ‘GMC’ on the EV with a magnifying glass. Like its American competitors, GM wants to make a big bet on electric pick-ups, so an extra model is never gone. In addition to the existing Hummer, which also appears as a slightly shorter SUV, there will also be an electric Chevrolet Silverado. Just like the regular Silverado, that car gets a sister model called GMC Sierra. The electric Sierra will be unveiled late tonight.
