The messaging system now has a cancel sending function. Here’s how to activate it in your browser.
You just sent an email with Gmail and realize you made a mistake. If the mail is already gone for a long time, there is unfortunately nothing more to do. On the other hand, Gmail now has a cancellation function that allows you to react within a few seconds after sending the mail. With the new version of the app for iOS and Android, the option appears directly after sending the email.
If you are using Gmail with an Internet browser and have not yet activated the new interface (option Try the new version of Gmail), the cancel function is not active by default. To activate it:
- In Gmail, click the settings icon (shaped like a gear) at the top right of the window. Select Settings in the list of options.
- In the tab General, Check the box Activate Cancel send and choose the delay time during which the cancellation will be possible.
- If you are using the new interface, you can change the timeout (from 5 to 30 seconds) during which cancellation is possible. The duration is also adjusted in the settings of Gmail.
Once the function is activated, a button to cancel appears at the bottom of the window when sending e-mail.
