Bad news if you have one Google Chromecast used, because a popular feature is now missing from the device. This is what’s going on.
Stream to Google Chromecast
Do you regularly watch your favorite series and films via Google Chromecast? In that case, you may have already noticed that a popular Google Chromecast feature has recently been missing. Netflix no longer allows streaming series and films to recent models of Google Chromecast. For many users, it is therefore no longer possible to watch content from one of the most popular streaming services on the big screen.
The popular feature still works with previous models of Google Chromecast. These are the versions that do not work with Google TV and do not have a remote control. With these models it is only possible to stream series and films from your smartphone, which will also remain allowed with Netflix for the time being. Do you have a newer version of Google Chromecast with Google TV? Then you have to do without the handy feature at Netflix.

Function becoming less popular
Netflix disabled the important feature of Google Chromecast in December and provided no further explanation. However, it is now becoming a little clearer why the feature has been removed from Google Chromecast, because a new report shows that streaming to television is becoming less and less popular. Reportedly, only 10 percent of all Android devices use the casting feature. It’s not clear how many iPhone users stream to the Google Chromecast.
It is little surprise that fewer and fewer users are streaming to a television via a smartphone. The newer one Google TV Streamer works with applications for all streaming services. So you no longer need a phone to watch a series or film on the big screen. In addition, many smart televisions now have standard applications for services such as Netflix, so streaming is no longer necessary.

Millions of Chromecasts
Streaming to the Google Chromecast is becoming less and less popular, but is still one of the easiest ways to play your series or movie on your television. From now on, you will need a remote control to play Netflix on certain versions of the Google Chromecast. Netflix probably made this choice not only due to the declining popularity of streaming, but also to better limit subscriptions to one household.
Netflix has not allowed sharing a subscription outside a household for a long time. The streaming service can better control at which address the account is used via the Google TV Streamer and Google Chromecast with Google TV. Do you want to prevent that? Then you must use an earlier version of the Google Chromecast, which works without a remote control. Do you want to stay informed of the latest news? Then sign up for our daily or weekly newsletter!
