The Google Pixel 6a, an upcoming mid-range phone from Google, will work with its own Tensor chipset. Furthermore, Google chooses a simpler camera setup compared to the current flagships. This has already been leaked.
Pixel 6a leaks
Last weekend we showed the first leaked images of the Pixel 6a, the cheaper variant of the Pixel 6. We then discovered that this phone takes many of the design elements of the top devices, as well as the fingerprint scanner under the screen. Now there are more answers to our questions about the specifications.
9To5Google has discovered more about the upcoming phone’s features thanks to Google Camera’s code on the Pixel 6. The Pixel 6a will first work with Tensor, which is Google’s own chipset designed with a focus on artificial intelligence. Tensor enables advanced camera functions, as well as the smart Live Translate translation function. Apart from that, it is also just a powerful processor that delivers good performance.
Famous cameras
Furthermore, more has also become known about the camera. The Pixel 6’s 50MP main camera is swapped out by Google for a 12.2MP one in its midrange phone. It’s the same camera that the company has used in all of its phones, from the Pixel 3 to the Pixel 5. The Pixel 6’s 12MP wide-angle camera still has its place in the Pixel 6a. In addition, this smartphone will have an 8 MP selfie camera, just like the regular Pixel 6. The Pixel 6 Pro was released with an 11.1 MP selfie camera. So, in other words, these are the cameras on the Pixel 6a:
- 12.2 MP main camera
- 12 MP wide-angle camera
- 8 MP selfie camera
So we expect that the camera performance of this phone will be closer to the Pixel 5, except for the new features that Tensor makes possible. Nothing is known about other features of the phone yet. Earlier it appeared that the screen will also be somewhat smaller, around 6.2 inches, compared to 6.4 inches with the Pixel 6. It seems plausible to us that Google will also want to reduce the price in this area by opting for a simpler copy.
