Google will ensure that reviews of apps and games in the Google Play Store are made more relevant. The company will do this by showing the ratings based on the type of device. Reviews are now based on people who use the same type of device, such as smartphone, tablet and/or television.
Various devices
The Google Play Store is the place where you can download apps and games for all your Android or Google devices, among other things. Whether your smartphone, tablet or television runs on Android or Google TV, you can find thousands of apps for your device here. Besides the fact that you can download apps, you can also leave a review about a particular app. This is nice, because it allows people to better orientate whether a particular app is worth it. However, the fact is that in the Google Play Store you can find apps for television, smartphones and tablets. And this created problems in the relevance of the ratings.
In the Play Store you could already find apps that were specifically made for your type of device. However, the reviews were not separated. And this, for example, caused you to encounter negative, or positive, reviews that were not relevant to you. Let’s take an example: if you wanted to download the Instagram app on your smartphone, you might just come across dozens of negative reviews about the poor tablet optimization. Something that was therefore irrelevant to you as a smartphone user. This is now going to change.
New update
Google has made sure that reviews are now shown based on the type of device by means of an update. You can also see this if you go to the Play Store yourself. ‘Ratings and reviews’ now says: ”Ratings are based on recent reviews from people in your area who use the same type of device.” The improvement was previously announced by Google.
