Google stops selling Nest thermostats in Europe
Do you have a Google Nest thermostat? Then you have to pay attention. Google will stop selling Google Nest thermostats in Europe. In fact, it even means the end for the support for the older Google Nest thermostats. Google says that in a recently published blog post.

As a reason, the search giant indicates that the heating systems in Europe are unique and set a variety of requirements for the hardware and software. And that it is therefore difficult to make products for that.
The change starts on October 25, 2025. If you have a thermostat from 2011, 2012 or 2014, the support will stop on that day. Handy to know: in the Netherlands, the 2014 version was the first Google Nest that became officially available here. The 2011 and 2012 version of the Google Nest appeared in the US, but were also sold (via detours) in Europe.

If the support stops then you can no longer operate the thermostat via the Nest app (or Google Assistant). Also ‘connected features’ will no longer work. You should think of automatically lowering the heating when you leave home. You can still manually adjust the temperature and the diagrams on the device itself.
For owners of the Google Nest versions for which support will stop, Google points the European users to the smart thermostats of Tado, among others. You can then buy it with a discount, according to the blog post. Users who qualify automatically receive an e-mail with more information.
If you have a Google Nest thermostat (3rd generation, 2015) or a Google Nest thermostat E (2018), then there is in Europe provisional Nothing wrong yet. The company itself indicates that these devices will still receive (security) updates. But of course Google can suddenly also stop supporting these Nest devices in Europe …
