I recently installed two small Quatt heat pumps on my dormer window, which I hardly hear indoors. That location is ideal because it is very close to my boiler room and therefore there is very little heat loss. My house is reasonably insulated and with the underfloor heating in an extension I was able to heat my house well with central heating water of only 50 degrees. Now that gas prices are rising again and subsidies on Quatt heat pumps will be €700 to €1400 lower in 2025, I have opted for Quatt’s Duo setup. This setup is very suitable for my somewhat larger house. The compact Quatt heat pumps also have a stylish design with a wood-like band on the front.

If you accept a quote before 2025, Quatt guarantees that you can still benefit from the higher subsidy. For a single heat pump this means a subsidy of € 2,775. If, like me, you opt for the Duo setup, you will even receive this subsidy twice, meaning you only pay €700 extra for that second A+++ heat pump.
Both hybrid heat pumps work optimally with your boiler with an AI control unit. If you want to get rid of gas completely in the future, the data from that unit will help. Living completely gas-free saves another €300 per year, because you no longer pay standing charges and gas delivery costs. Since February 2024, removing your gas connection has also been free of charge. You can also save on the maintenance costs of your central heating.
This is how you make use of the transitional arrangement
Although the subsidy on heat pumps will decrease in 2025, you can still benefit from the higher subsidy amounts in 2024 thanks to a transitional arrangement. For this you must accept a quote or place an order in 2024, even if the installation does not take place until 2025. Make sure you have a signed quotation or order confirmation; this is essential for applying for the subsidy.
From 2025, the ISDE subsidies will be adjusted: the basic amount per heat pump will decrease by €850, while the amount per kW of power will increase by €75. These changes are especially beneficial for heavier heat pumps.

Quatt one of the cheapest providers
Thanks to the AI control unit, the Quatt Duo heat pumps often take turns, which is good for their lifespan. Because a single heat pump can continue to run in a low heating setting, Quatt does not need a buffer tank that often causes heat loss in a place where you do not need that heat. If you keep enough radiators open, sufficient heat output is possible and your heat pump will run most efficiently without having to be switched off and on again. This also increases the lifespan of a heat pump. An additional advantage of a heat pump is that your central heating boiler is put under less strain, which means it will also last longer. A Duo setup also provides more comfort, your central heating boiler does not have to kick in as quickly (and you therefore save even more on gas). Another reason why I chose Quatt is because they install everything themselves, so you have one point of contact.
The only additional investment with the Duo setup is that you need a separate power group in the meter cupboard. Still, my heat pumps will pay for themselves in just over three years! Due to the low purchase price of a Quatt heat pump, the payback period is usually somewhere between 2 and 6 years, depending on your gas consumption.

The installation of both heat pumps was carried out very neatly within half a day. After installation, you must pay the entire amount within three days (this is also a condition when applying for the subsidy). You do not have to apply for the subsidy yourself. A useful tip I found there is to expand your heating system with a dirt separator when installing the heat pump. In my situation, a Spirotech MB3 dirt separator was recommended for a longer lifespan and lower gas consumption.
User-friendly app
The Quatt app is beautifully designed. For example, you can see with an animation whether the heat comes from 1 or 2 heat pumps, the indoor and outdoor temperatures and the temperature you have set on the room thermostat:

You can also install the app on an iPad. Through the app you can clearly see how much gas and money you have saved per day, week, month or year. When the heat pump can be heard, you can use a Soundslider to run your heat pump(s) more quietly in the app. Then your heat pump also runs at a lower capacity. This can be useful to allow a heat pump that is often switched off to continue running for a little longer, which in turn is beneficial for the lifespan of your heat pump.
The app also has a help center with a lot of information and the option to submit a question. If there is a malfunction because, for example, the water pressure is too low, they will probably discover this before you notice it. Disruptions are often resolved remotely, and for urgent problems, customer service is also available until 10:30 PM.
This way you can save extra on your energy costs
Thanks to my solar panels and an electric car, I had already opted for a dynamic energy contract. This way I don’t pay any return costs and I save a lot of money by charging the car with electricity from my solar panels or when the electricity is cheapest. With a dynamic contract you can easily create a daily schedule. Only if there are very high electricity costs, it is wise to set the room thermostat a degree higher in advance. This way your house heats up with cheaper electricity. Just before the electricity becomes much more expensive, set the room thermostat one degree lower. Because the house is warm enough, the heat pump immediately stops for a few hours. Because the more expensive electricity often comes at the beginning of the evening and it often quickly gets colder, you benefit extra. This is because your heat pump can extract much more heat from the outside air during the day at a higher outside temperature to heat your house extra cheaply. Temporarily raising the temperature slightly should only be done if there are large price differences, because constantly heating it up costs more energy than keeping your house at the right temperature. What you should never do is suddenly turn up the room thermostat several degrees. Then your central heating boiler will step in to heat your house and you will actually save less gas.

If your house is not yet well insulated, it would be wise to apply for a slightly higher energy saving loan from the Heat Fund if you do not have enough money. This way you can also better insulate your home. With a joint income of up to € 60,000, you pay no interest at all on this loan and if you earn more together, the interest is still lower than with most other loan types.
