After about twelve years, the curtain has fallen for the king of the Lambo range, but the Lamborghini Aventador will of course have an heir to the throne. Thanks to a new set of espionage records, we can show you the new feat from Sant’Agata Bolognese better than ever.

A quick look back to 2011, the year Lamborghini gave the Murciélago a successor in the form of the Aventador. That Aventador has received dozens of special versions during its approximately twelve years of existence. From extra fast copies to versions built in small series with a completely different body. They all had one thing in common: behind the front seats was a mighty 6.5-litre V12. The Aventador is allowed to retire and based on these spy records, his successor is eager to let his tires smoke. Good news: again a mighty twelve-cylinder will be responsible for the burnt rubber.

Successor Lamborghini Aventador

Lamborghini’s Aventador successor

Lamborghini sticks to the V12 and gives the still unnamed successor of the Aventador a twelve-cylinder. That V12 is assisted by an electric motor in Lambo’s new top model. Just like the Sián and Sián Roadster – which basically also rely on Aventador technology – the new extremist will be a plug-in hybrid.

That undoubtedly fierce powertrain is packaged in a spectacular way, entirely according to Lamborghini tradition. The successor of the Aventador also gets an exterior punctuated with sharp lines and folds, complete with apparently a large overhang at the front. Behind the doors and behind the side windows are wide slots to allow the mighty V12 to breathe properly and to keep it cool. Just like with the Huracán, for example, the windscreen seems to optically blend into the front cover. Also striking is the design of the rear: there we see a set of taillights that take Lamborghini’s Y-shaped light signature to a new level. High in the rear of the supercar we find four exhaust tailpipes. The Aventador initially had its chutes centrally at the bottom of the rear, although swing-out model LP 780-4 Ultimae also got them higher in the buttocks. In terms of power, the Aventador successor will of course not be inferior to the 780 hp that the swing-out edition of the Aventador brings to the road. We expect Lamborghini to launch the Aventador replacement in 2023.
