Higher turnover and slight profit for Kia

Kia can look back on the third quarter of this year with a reasonably satisfied look. Turnover has increased compared to last year and sales were only marginally lower. At the same time, profits were considerably depressed.

In the third quarter of this year, Kia posted sales of € 12.36 billion. That is 8.2 percent more than last year in the same period. The operating profit amounted to € 1.48 billion. That is a sharp drop compared to last year in Q3, when the operating profit was 33 percent higher. According to Kia, this is mainly due to ‘preventive security measures and the setting aside of money to prevent future cost increases’. If those expenses are canceled out, according to Kia, there will still be more profit on the bow than expected.

The sales figures also show that things are going relatively well with Kia. With 699,402 cars sold, there is only a 0.4 percent decline in sales compared to the third quarter of 2019. The home market in particular was relatively strong, but sales outside South Korea fell 1.3 percent despite the corona crisis as well. not against. Over the first nine months of this year, Kia records a sales decline of 10.3 percent. Despite this, turnover growth of 0.5 percent was achieved in the same period.
