The world is again richer with a stubbornly designed EV. Well, almost. The Chinese manufacturer Human Horizons and its car brand HiPhi have released the first images of a very strikingly designed electric newcomer that is 95 percent ready for production.
A quick look back. In 2019, the Chinese Human Horizons created a car brand with HiPhi that now has one production model. That HiPhi X was preceded by a study model from which he derived the majority of its appearance, the HiPhi 1. The HiPhi X will not remain the only HiPhi car for long, the brand is showing an almost production-ready second in the form of this HiPhi Z. see model.
If you follow the news on AutoWeek closely, the appearance of the HiPhi Z may look familiar. AutoWeek already showed you the patent plates of a new HiPhi study model in September. That car has now actually been lifted onto the podium by its creators. Human Horizons describes the HiPhi Z as a GT that is – we’re not making it up – “inspired by the ideas of the future and the concept of four-dimensional space.” In addition, ‘time’ would be the fourth dimension, through which the HiPhi Z breaks through by bringing the future into the present. Hazier than a fogged windscreen, but of course it sounds pretty good from a marketing point of view.
Human Horizons speaks of the presence of high-quality artificial intelligence that gives the HiPhi Z ‘a soul’. If we wash that marketing sludge off our screen, a strikingly designed liftback with idiosyncratic design details remains. For example, the roofline runs over into a hefty rear spoiler, the car is larded with strikingly placed black and purple surfaces and we observe intense lighting all around. At the rear we see a wide LED bar that is only interrupted by a round ornament in which the brand name of the car can be read. Using large luminescent panels underneath, the HiPhi Z can communicate with its vehicles behind by conjuring up symbols on them. The windows of the HiPhi Z are very similar to those of the HiPhi X and that suggests that the two cars are technically related.
If the technology of the final production version of the HiPhi Z matches that of the X, then the Chinese consumer can expect, among other things, a 96 kWh battery pack and rear and four-wheel drive versions. In its most powerful form, the HiPhi X is capable of zooming to 100 km/h in almost 4 seconds. The most economical HiPhi X can travel up to 630 kilometers on a charge. Mind you, this is measured according to the not exactly accurate NEDC cycle. We close with one last bit of wonderful PR talk. Human Horizons says it is targeting a new segment with its HiPhis: ‘Techluxe’.
