Did you also have a Nintendo DS in the past and couldn’t you get enough of Pictochat? Good news! With this app, Pictochat comes to your iPhone!
Nostalgia: This is how you bring Pictochat from the Nintendo DS to your iPhone
Pictochat was perhaps one of the nicest program on the Nintendo DS. At first glance it was a simple chat room, but there was so much more behind it. You could make messages and drawings with your stylus. Then you could forward them to your friends on a different DS, as long as they were within the reach of your DS.
You didn’t need WiFi, no accounts or crazy login procedures: you opened the DS, start the app and chose one of the chat rooms. The charm was also mainly in simplicity. You could type texts, but also send small scribbles or funny emojis.
Sometimes a message turned into a true work of art and sometimes it became a competition who could blackest the entire screen. Pictochat was very popular and a piece of pure DS magic.

Pictochat still works, but not many people still have a Nintendo DS in his pocket. But there is good news: there is now also an app for your iPhone that does the same as Pictochat did on Nintendo’s console. This app is called Picochat (watch out ‘t’) and it is a kind of mini app for messages. We tell you how to install the app on your iPhone!
- Download the Picochhat app from the App Store;
- Start the app messages;
- Tap the name of the person with whom you want to chat;
- Tap the plus sign and choose Picochat;
- Type or draw your message and tap the icon with the arrow up to send it.
Handy to know: To receive a message with this version of Pictochat, the recipient does not have to have the app installed.
