Not only medication from the pharmacy alleviates heartburn. There are many vegetable home remedies against heartburn that can help you quickly and easily.

The burning feeling that you feel during heartburn in the esophagus causes rising stomach acid. It is uncomfortable, but can be treated well, because simple home remedies can help you against heartburn. By eating something that looks basic, you neutralize the acidity.

One of the most common causes of heartburn are lush and greasy meals. But too much coffee, black tea or alcohol can cause heartburn, as can sweets or sharp food. In these cases, the stomach produces too much digestive juices and is greatly stretched. Then it can happen that the sphincter at the stomach input no longer closes properly and stomach acid climbs up in the esophagus.

Home remedies from the kitchen can be useful against heartburn. The specialist magazine “PTA today” recommends:

  • Strong foods: These include dry bread, crispbread, rusks or bananas. You can absorb excess stomach acid and relieve heartburn. Foods that contain strength look chemically alkaline or basic. This neutralizes the stomach acid. In addition, the strength binds the excess gastric secretion.

  • Almonds or oatmeal: chew about five peeled almonds or a tablespoon of oatmeal to porridge and then slowly swallow it down. This is how the excess stomach acid is bound, which causes the burning pain.

  • Potatoes: The strength contained in potatoes also acts as a home remedy for heartburn. You can eat half a potato or drink the cooking water of the potatoes in small swallows.

  • Mild herbal teas or water: they dilute the stomach acid and soothe the irritated mucous membranes of the esophagus. It is best to drink fennel tea or chamomile tea lukewarm and slowly in small swallow.

Another proven home remedy is soda. Soda is very basic and can therefore neutralize stomach acid and thus help against heartburn.

But be careful! “PTA today” points out that soda sometimes does too much of a good thing. The stomach is too deacidified and reacts to this unnatural state with even more stomach acid.

When home remedies do not help against heartburn: get medical advice

The causes can be varied and not always help home remedies against heartburn. In addition to harmless and everyday reasons, diseases can also hide behind the rising stomach acid. For example, inflammation of diaphragm and esophagus or the so -called reflux disease can cause excessive production of gastric acid. So if you suffer frequently and persistently under heartburn, you should get medically advised.

But also in pregnancy or in stressful situations, many people complain about heartburn. Here you can try the home remedies and at the same time do something against stress, for example by relaxing through meditation.
