Apple has released a new version of the HomePod mini! The HomePod mini gets a small update, because the speaker is available in a new color. Here’s what’s changing!

HomePod mini has a new color

Apple has announced that the HomePod mini will receive a small update. The speaker will be available in a new color from July 17, you can then choose midnight for the HomePod mini. In addition, the small speaker is available in the colors blue, yellow, white and orange. Previously you could also order the HomePod mini in the color space gray, but that version is replaced by midnight.

The small update means that the HomePod mini and the second generation HomePod are now available in the same colours. The larger version of the speaker does have less choice, which is only available in midnight and white. For more striking colours, you are limited to the HomePod mini. With the new colour of the small speaker, the HomePod and the HomePod mini fit together better.

No further changes

Apple has not announced any further changes to the speaker. So it is a small update for the HomePod mini, there are no new functions coming to the device. The price also remains the same, you get the speaker for 109 euros at Apple. Other providers ask a lower price for the HomePod mini, you currently pay 99 euros for the device.

The HomePod mini was released in 2020 and has not received a real update since then. The speaker was not officially released in the Netherlands until 2022, so it is not expected that a new generation of the HomePod mini will be released soon. However, the device did receive a number of new functions in early 2023, because it has since been possible to view the temperature and humidity via the HomePod (mini).

New HomePod with screen

The HomePod mini is not getting a major update for the time being, but expectations are high for the HomePod. Several rumors have already surfaced, revealing that Apple is working on a speaker with a screen. The display will probably be as large as the iPad mini, which has an 8.3-inch screen. Apple has already conducted tests to see how tvOS works on the small version of the iPad.
