Honda Accord gets update for 2021

In Europe, the model has not been on the price lists since 2015, but in the US the Honda Accord is still very much alive. The popular sedan will receive a minor facelift for model year 2021.

However, facelift… in the US the news from car manufacturers is much more concentrated around so-called ‘model years’ than in Europe. Almost every year, models receive major or minor updates. The smallest examples of this are equipment differences, new colors or a modernized infotainment screen. The Accord will also get those small changes this time, but there is more news to report. Honda’s ‘midsize sedan’ gets a wider grille, with horizontal slats breaking through the large black surface. The rest of the front bumper is also slightly different than before, partly due to the more squeezed intake openings around the fog lights.

The Honda Accord now has an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto as standard. Top models even get these telephone aids in a fairly rare wireless version.

Hybrid

In the case of the Accord Hybrid, the technology has also been tinkered with. The hybrid Honda gets a different set-up, which should provide better throttle response and a more natural acceleration sequence. Honda states that ‘the speed now accelerates together with the input that the driver gives via the accelerator’, where this was apparently not self-evident before.

Until a few years ago, the Honda Accord always made it to the top two of the sales rankings together with the Toyota Camry, if the pick-ups are not included. In the meantime, both sedans have to give up their place to SUVs, but for a sedan the Accord is still very popular in the US. He made it to 11th place in 2019 with 267,567 copies. Honda will not shed any tears, because its own CR-V has flawlessly filled the position of the Accord in the American sales statistics.

The current American Accord was presented in 2017 and is therefore still fresh in principle.

Just no Jazz

Incidentally, the cheapest new Accord in the US costs 25,725, or less than 22,000 euros. For that money you don’t even have a Jazz here.
