Honda will fully recycle or reuse all batteries in its electric cars and hybrids. The brand has concluded an agreement for this with processing company SNAM.

The batteries of the Honda e get a second life after the car’s life has ended. The batteries are collected from the dealer, after which technicians check whether the batteries are suitable for reuse. If so, they get a second life in electrical appliances.

If the batteries supply too little energy, they will be dismantled. Precious metals such as lithium and cobalt can be used in new batteries. Other metals and plastics are separated and offered to other companies, who can make new products from them.

The collaboration with processing company SNAM means not only that the Honda e batteries will be recycled or reused in the future, but also that of all Honda hybrids. So also the older models, such as the Civic Hybrid, Insight and first generation Jazz Hybrid.
