Honda recalls 2024 CB650R and CBR650R: Schakelarm can be released

In July 2024, Honda received a first report from the European market of an engine whose switching mechanism had been released, on which Honda started an investigation and the relevant parts were investigated.

In September Honda was informed about several incidents in Europe and continued the study, in December Honda began to consider the possibility that the issue could also play with motors in other countries.

The investigation was continued and the defect was discovered in February. The paint thickness on the link arm turned out not to be in accordance with specification, after the production of the Japan switch to Thailand had been moved, which had resulted in an excessive thick layer of paint. As a result of the increased paint layer, the surface of the switch was able to deteriorate, so that the bolt and nut from the switching mechanism could become loose.

Honda has taken a temporary measure to be able to check the paint thickness of the switch arm. The supplier has added an extra casting process, improved the inspection of the paint thickness and adjusted the touching moment for production.

With the Honda dealer, the switching mechanism will be inspected and replaced if necessary.
