Honda has rolled out a recall for the new CMX1100 Rebel. The radiator cap may not be formed properly during production, resulting in an inadequate seal and possible hot coolant leakage.
During the manufacturing process, the radiator cap mold may not have molded the height of the outer hook to specifications, causing it to rotate with tightening and insufficient sealing. As a result, the radiator may leak hot coolant.
The problem first occurred in the Japanese market, where a Rebel 1100 had leaked radiator coolant. After multiple reports, an investigation was launched, which found that the cap dimensions were larger than specification. That information was shared with the supplier.
The radiator cap will be replaced at the Honda dealer and the coolant topped up if necessary. Customers who have already had and paid for this repair will receive a refund from Honda.
