KTM unveils 1390 Super Adventure R

After announcing the 1390 Super Adventure S earlier this year, KTM has now also lifted the curtain on the 1390 Super Adventure R, which, according to the Austrians, offers off-road adventure motorcyclists the ideal platform to venture off the beaten track.

KTM unveils 1390 Super Adventure R

For 2025, the KTM 1390 Super Adventure R features an all-new design, LED lighting, a shorter, more off-road-oriented windshield and more storage compartments. According to KTM, the 2025 KTM 1390 Super Adventure R has improved frame stiffness, improving handling and track stability. The new crash bar – which is fitted as standard on the Super Adventure R – has also been made stiffer and offers better protection thanks to an extra arm towards the engine mount.

Unlike the KTM 1390 Super Adventure S and S EVO, the KTM 1390 Super Adventure R features a more traditional suspension that is better suited to tougher off-road work, with a 48mm WP XPLOR split cartridge fork and WP’s XPLOR Progressive Damping System ( PDS) rear shock.

The engine capacity has been increased from 1,300 to 1,350 cc and produces no less than 173 hp at 9,500 rpm and 145 Nm at 8,000 rpm. According to KTM, the all-new Camshift technology, popularly known as variable valve timing, should have improved the bottom end in particular – a smoother response when negotiating tight trails.

Camshift technology offers variable valve timing with two separate cam profiles. At higher engine speeds the intake cams shift sideways, opening the valves longer and higher for more gas flow into the cylinder head, dramatically increasing performance, while at low engine speeds the intake cams have shorter valve timing and lift. This results in a noticeable improvement in driving characteristics, both in normal urban road conditions and when performing strongly on faster, open roads.

The KTM 1390 Super Adventure R also features KTM’s new premium electronics package, with an all-new 8” vertically mounted dashboard. The 8″ touchscreen features induction technology, making it easy to operate – even when wearing thick winter or off-road gloves.

The screen also features an innovative anti-reflex, anti-fingerprint and anti-reflex coating that improves readability and gives the rider access to new riding modes, built-in navigation and connectivity features.
