How to choose the 1st day of the week in Google Calendar?

In some countries and depending on religious practices, the first day of the week is not Monday, but Sunday, or even Saturday. That’s why it’s possible to adjust this setting in Google Calendar. The first day of the week will then be different in the week view.

Change the 1st day of the week in Google Calendar

1. Tap on the menu icon at the top left of the screen.

2. At the very bottom of the menu, select the “Settings” command.

3. Choose “General” to access the settings.

4. At the very top of the general settings, the 1st day of the week currently in place is indicated under the line “Start of the week”. To modify it, click on it.

5. Pick the day that works best for you to start the week. NB: the only days available are Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

You do not need to confirm your choice, it is taken into account immediately.

After you make the change, the week view starts with the day you chose.

Choosing the start day of the week is therefore quite useful for the week view. So, if you never use this view, you can keep Monday as the default. Note that if you have enabled the display of week numbers, these will be shown according to the first day of the week you have selected. For example, if Saturday is the first day of the week in your calendar, in 2022, week 17 begins on Saturday, April 23.
