Delete your Google+ account now without waiting for the service to close, scheduled for August 2019.
Google has just announced: Google+ will close its doors by August 2019, after the discovery of a security breach that potentially exposed the personal data of 500,000 users. While the majority of people using a Gmail account have a Google+ account, almost no one uses Google’s social network.
For those who don’t want to wait for the service to close, here’s how to delete their Google+ account.
1. Access the Google+ profile
Launch your browser and log into your Gmail inbox. Click on your profile picture at the top right, then on the Google+ Profile link.

2. Open settings
In the left column of your profile, click Settings. Scroll down to the bottom of the options offered to reach the last section dedicated to your account. Click Remove your Google+ profile.

A login window appears. Enter your password and validate.

4. Confirm deletion
The Google+ removal page appears. At the bottom of the page, choose whether or not you want to unsubscribe from updates from people you follow in other Google products as well, then check the required box indicating the consequences of deletion.
Click on the Delete button to validate.

A confirmation window appears and invites you, if you wish, to indicate the reasons for your choice.
