Ready for the FIFA World Cup? Do you want to make sure you don’t miss any of the meetings that will take place in Russia and know everything about the teams and the players? Google offers several tools to help you. Here’s how to use them with your smartphone:
1 – Google app
The Google app may have already sent you a notification that the World Cup is starting. It then displays a small balloon at the top of the screen and you just have to tap on the notification to launch the app.

If not, type Football World Cup in the search box at the top of the home screen. You can also manually launch the Google app (icon with a multicolored capital G). Scroll down and tap the blue button to switch to full screen mode.

Tap the button To follow at the top of the screen: you can then choose to receive notifications for all matches (scores) or only for your favorite teams. Tap on the small circles containing the + symbol to make your choice and confirm with OK.

The display relating to the World Cup has several tabs: Matches, News, Ranking, Players and Final Round. Tap on the Matches tab to have a list of all matches in chronological order. Tap on a match for specific information. You can also directly access the match data by typing its name in the search box of the Google app, for example France Australia.

When possible, the button Watch live refers to the TF1 site in order to follow a match live. The button Pin allows you to place a score thumbnail on your screen, and keep it superimposed on all of your applications. We can then follow a match in real time.

The News tab gives access to all the news relating to the football world cup while the Ranking tab shows the number of points and the position of the different teams in their respective groups.

And to find out everything about the players (news, profile), tap the Players tab. At last, the Final phase tab allows you to see the table of matches from the round of 16.

2 – Google News
If you don’t have the app Google News, it is available in the Play Store. Launch the app and type 2018 world cup in the search box at the top of the screen.

Three tabs allow you to choose between general news, information relating to the different groups and a section dedicated to the France team (Les Bleus).

In the tab News, tap on the black area with a color wheel. The wheel has the different groups and you only have to tap on each sector to display the information of a specific group.

Scroll down to access Teams. Tap on the flag of each team to find out about their matches. And to see the list of all meetings in chronological order, scroll down again.

3 – Google Assistant
Finally, Google’s personal assistant is on time for the World Cup and will try to answer all your questions about the event. Just say the phrase 2018 world cup to listen to information about the competition.
