Many employees at London Gatwick Airport remember the 2018 run-up to Christmas with shakes of their heads. Flight operations were almost paralyzed for 33 hours because drones were sighted over the runway. Many flights were cancelled.
It wasn't the only drone sighting at Gatwick. And Gatwick isn't the only airport struggling with drones. There have also been several incidents at every German airport in recent years. This year alone, traffic at Frankfurt Rhein-Main Airport was disrupted in two incidents
