Two years after its first presentation as a concept model at the EICMA in Milan, Husqvarna has launched the Norden 901. According to the Swedish Austrians, the Norden 901 has real off-road capability built into an exceptional adventure travel engine that continues when the asphalt roads end.
Inspired by Husqvarna multi-terrain Rally machines, the Norden 901 is built to cover long distances through challenging, diverse landscapes. Fast, fun, agile and above all capable. This is a motorcycle that will make even the longest riding days worth it, no matter how far the rider wants to travel, on or off road. At least that’s what Husqvarna itself claims.
The Norden 901 brings a tough yet lightweight approach to the mid-range adventure sector. The Norden 901 is powered by the well-known and torquey 899 cc parallel twin of 105 hp, while balance shafts keep vibrations to a minimum. The bike is mounted in a light steel truss tubular frame, but we didn’t expect it any other way.
According to Husqvarna, the frame is built to transport the rider, luggage and passenger to the farthest reaches of the compass over any terrain, aided by WP APEX long-travel suspension. Large 21″ front and 18″ rear wheels roll easily over obstacles. Despite its exemplary off-road capabilities, the Norden 901 should also offer unparalleled comfort and maneuverability on asphalt.
As for the brakes, the front features dual discs with unbranded 4-piston calipers, supported by switchable Bosch cornering ABS with Street and Off-road modes. The traction control is also lean angle sensitive, with Husqvarna paying particular attention to the off-road assistance.
In terms of electronics, Husqvarna has provided three riding modes (Street, Rain, Offroad) and an optional Explorer mode to adapt to any circumstance the rider may encounter. The Easy Shift function allows clutchless up and down shifts to the six-speed transmission, while a Power Assist Slipper Clutch (PASC) maintains rear wheel position.
“Since 2014, the Husqvarna Motorcycles brand has been constantly evolving. With the launch of the Norden 901, we are entering a different market segment – travel. The motorcycle was unveiled to a very enthusiastic reception at EICMA 2019 and there has been increasing anticipation leading up to its launch, now it’s finally here, and we believe the Norden 901 will become a leading favorite of riders with the ambition to explore further.”
The highly anticipated Norden 901 will be available from authorized Husqvarna Motorcycles dealers from November 2021. For full details on pricing and availability, please refer to the Husqvarna Motorcycles dealer.
