Hybrid McLaren Artura ready for debut

McLaren enthusiasts, pay attention. The brand has a new hybrid supercar that will make its public debut later this week. McLaren is already showing a shadowy teaser record of its hybrid newcomer, a car on an entirely new basis that serves as a replacement for the complete Sports Series.

On February 17, McLaren pulls the curtain off the Artura, a new hybrid supercar that will mark the end of the Sports Series. The Sports Series, which consists of cars such as the 540C, 570S and 600 LT, is currently being succeeded in one model. The Artura will have a hybrid powertrain that is made up of a completely new petrol engine, a V6 that will undoubtedly send at least 600 hp to the rear wheels thanks to electrical assistance. The hybrid powertrain with V6 replaces the double blown 3.8 V8s that McLaren has in the models of the Sports Series. Two pips less, but no doubt just as spectacular.

Not only is the V6 new, the complete basis of the Artura has been newly developed. The Artura is built around what McLaren calls its new McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture. Although the car is not yet clearly visible on this new teaser plate, Techzle previously presented you with patent plates on which the exterior of the car was already extensively visible. The Artura, the first McLaren with a V6 behind the front seats, will reveal all its secrets later this week. We are aiming for the new hybrid McLaren to be a plug-in hybrid, as McLaren previously talked about a ‘medium electric range’.
