Hyundai announces facelifted Kona

We have known the current Hyundai Kona in its current capacity for about three years now. According to Hyundai, it is therefore high time to facelift the compact crossover and present it in a renewed form. In the run-up to that moment, it shows three (clear!) Sketches of what is to come.

The Kona is the second model, after the all-new i20, to be introduced to Hyundai’s new Sensuous Sportiness design language. With the teasers, Hyundai seems to want to say that especially the front has to suffer with the facelift, because nothing specific is shown of the rest of the body. The front is therefore being thoroughly overhauled. This is how the lighting is changed. The flat top light section will have redesigned daytime running lights and the larger front lamps, which are slightly lower in the front bumper, will also have a new design with a different layout. Furthermore, the bumper is thoroughly overhauled with a new skid plate and Hyundai tries to create more of a ‘shark nose’ effect.

In addition to a sketch of a regular Kona, Hyundai also sends a drawing of the upcoming N Line. That’s the first time the Kona has met the sporty Hyundai branch. Note: this is the N Line and not a real N. Hyundai talks about a more aerodynamic design with low-placed air intakes and more aggressive bumper work.

Initially, Hyundai only shows a facelifted Kona that only likes petrol. This will be presented soon and will appear in the showroom later this year. The facelifted Kona Hybrid should hit the road in the first quarter of 2021. The fully electric Kona Electric will not be facelifted until next year. We will know more in “a few weeks”!
