The Hyundai Kona went under the knife last year, but the Kona news is far from finished. Hyundai comes with a fierce Kona N, a sporty version of which the brand is now releasing new images.
Hyundai’s N line-up in the Netherlands includes the i30 N Hatchback and i30 N Fastback and soon the already presented i20 N will be added. The Hyundai Kona will also get an N version. That sporty crossover gets a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with turbo, a power plant that is linked to an eight-speed DCT automatic transmission. Just released footage already shows some details of the Hyundai Kona N.
Hyundai Kona N
The Hyundai Kona N gets an aggressive front where the three holes between the LED daytime running lights stand out the most. The large grille underneath has a sporty-looking mesh. In the rest of the bumper we also observe larger openings, including directly under the actual headlights. Hyundai finishes things off with, among other things, red accents, details that also return in the rear bumper. That rear bumper is perhaps even more striking. At the very bottom there is a diffuser on either side of two large round chutes. There are closed plastic panels on the corners of the bumper that must pass as openings. At the top of the rear, a more or less two-part rear spoiler with a triangular third brake light in between.
How powerful the turbo engine in the Kona N is, Hyundai is still under its cap. In the i30 N and i30 N Fastback, renewed last year, the 2.0 delivers 250 hp, although there is also a Performance version available that kicks it up to 280 hp. If the Kona N does indeed get 250 to 280 hp, then the car will find a place on the power ladder between sporty crossovers like the Ford Puma ST and cars like the Audi SQ2 and Volkswagen T-Roc R.
Hyundai says it will release more information about the Kona N.
