Scammers are taking advantage of the transition from iDEAL to Wero, which increases the risk of fraud. Beware of this dangerous spam message about iDEAL!
iDEAL becomes Wero
Be careful if you regularly make online payments! A lot will change in the coming period, because iDEAL is slowly disappearing into the background. The Dutch payment system is being replaced by Wero, which is based on iDEAL. The first changes are now visible, because the Wero logo appears next to that of iDEAL when making online transactions. Unfortunately, scammers are trying to take advantage of the transition to Wero, causing spam messages to be sent more frequently.
Be careful in the near future if you receive messages about iDEAL or Wero, because there is a good chance that they are spam messages. A warning is now being issued about a dangerous spam message that spreads misinformation about iDEAL and Wero. This message states that iDEAL has been updated to Wero and that you must confirm your identity to prevent abuse. Have you received this message? It is important to know that you if user does not have to do anything at all for the transition from iDEAL to Wero. This transition is automatic, so there is no need to re-identify yourself or enter any other important information. Spam messages about iDEAL and Wero often claim this, in order to steal sensitive data from you. Therefore, never click on unknown links in strange messages, such as the text message above.
