Paying with iDeal will be different – you need to know this

Major changes are coming to the popular payment service iDEAL. Payments will become easier and the service will also be expanded throughout Europe. That’s not all, because iDEAL will also have a different name in the future: Wero.

Create profiles at iDEAL

However, this has not yet happened, but iDEAL (and the banks) have now started introducing the new functions. And you have to deal with that almost immediately. If you plan to buy something now, you often have to enter your address and other information separately. You can then pay with iDEAL.

With the new payment method you can create a profile at iDEAL. This will include your address details and the payment account you prefer to use.

You can compare the new method of payment with the payment service PayPal. You also create a profile that includes your address details. When you want to pay something, you only have to log in to your account and approve the payment.

In their blog says iDEAL that most banks already support the new way of paying. Only ABN-AMRO customers will have access to the new functions at a time to be determined. Are you not looking forward to all those changes at all? Don’t worry, it remains possible to pay in the ‘old way’ (temporarily or otherwise).

iDEAL becomes European payment system

It is no surprise that iDEAL is implementing these changes, because a takeover by the European Payments Initiative (EPI) has been in the works for quite some time. iDEAL will then become the basis for a new European payment system and digital wallet. EPI is a collaboration between various European banks and payment institutions from Europe. On the official website you can read more about that.
