if you take in a certain nutrient, it contains calories. Too many calories means that you will gain weight (fat). Some nutrients (energy bars for example) are super high in calories. Is it possible that a particular food or dietary supplement is very light in weight, but provides a lot of extra calories. In other words, can you gain 11 grams with a super energy bar of 10 grams?
Answer
tina,
that’s impossible: you can’t “add” weight out of nothing. Normally, only a part of the calories in your diet is actually absorbed. With such energy bars and drinks, it is ensured that the absorption takes place as quickly and efficiently as possible, so that a little more energy will end up in your body. But to accumulate one kilogram of fat at the top of your belly you have to eat about 7000 calories more than you consume. So it won’t come from one bar (but certainly from a daily bar…)
