IKEA has been working with Sonos for a while to integrate speakers into the interior. Not only speakers are hidden in furniture by IKEA, air purifiers also receive the same treatment.
IKEA STARKVIND
The STARKIND from IKEA is the Swedish retail chain’s first smart air purifier and the product will hit stores from October. The new smart air purifier succeeds the recently launched SYMFONISK picture frame with WiFi speaker. That’s a speaker disguised as a painting.
For IKEA, the smart home isn’t about gadgets. The company is eager to make life at home better by combining their solid knowledge of home furnishing with digital solutions and technology. The STARKVIND does that by combining an air purifier and a side table in one product.
Three filters
The air purifier is located under the table top and contains three filters. The large pre-filter captures larger particles such as hair and dust. The smaller filter removes M2.5 particles and pollen from the air. There is also a third filter that is optional. That filter reduces unpleasant odors from cooking and smoking and can also prevent so-called volatile organic gases absorb.
Clean indoor air is an important factor for health. We know that there is no single solution to solve indoor air pollution. We are working to make positive change so that people can purify the air in their homes.
The STARKVIND air purifier is designed for use in small spaces up to 20 square meters and has five different fan speeds and an auto mode. In automatic mode, it will adjust the fan speed according to the amount of small particles in the air. If you connect the smart air purifier to the TRÃ…DFRI smart home hub, you can control the device via the IKEA Home smart app. You can then also see the quality of the current indoor air in the app.
availabilty
The STARKVIND air purifier costs €99.99 and the STARKVIND side table including air purifier costs €149. STARKVIND will be available from October 2021 in all IKEA stores and at IKEA.nl.
