Apple has removed a feature from the AirPods Pro. But there is a way to get this setting back. We show you how to do that.
Important AirPods Pro function disappeared: here’s how to get it back
If you have the AirPods Pro (2) and ever look at the settings, you may have noticed that an option has disappeared. You could always choose the ‘Off’ option in the ‘Noise control’ section. With this option you could disable all forms of noise cancellation.
Since iOS 18, this option has disappeared, and only the remaining three options are available: Transparency, Adaptive and Noise Reduction. Fortunately, there is a way to get the fourth option back.
This is how you can reset the ‘Off’ setting in the Noise Control function on the AirPods Pro (2)
- Connect the AirPods Pro (2) to your iPhone;
- Open your iPhone’s ‘Settings’;
- Tap the name of your AirPods Pro;
- Scroll down and turn on the slider for ‘Listening mode ‘Off’.
When you now scroll back up, you will see that under the heading ‘Noise Control’ you have four choices again and the AirPods Pro function is back!

The function described above is available on the AirPods Pro and the AirPods Pro 2. Both versions of the earphones have silicone tips and noise cancellation. But there are also some differences, because the AirPods Pro 2 have more functions than the first generation. For example, operation has become easier and they have an adaptive transparency mode.
