Importer: Energica not bankrupt

At the beginning of this week, news circulated that Energica would be bankrupt, but contrary to reports in the media, the Italian Energica Motor Company, manufacturer of electric motorcycles, has not filed for bankruptcy.

Importer: Energica not bankrupt

Marchel Bulthuis, owner of Electric Motorcycles Netherlands and importer of the Energica brand, among other things, disputes what he considers incorrect speculative reporting and emphasizes that the board of the Italian motorcycle manufacturer has decided to start a liquidation process according to Italian law. This creates opportunities for a possible restart.

“It is incorrect that Energica is in the final stages of bankruptcy,” he says. Bulthuis refers to the message from the Board of Directors of Energica Motor Company published on October 14, which states that the manufacturer is in the process of liquidation. However, there is no question of bankruptcy.

Incorrect interpretation
“Unfortunately, this message has been misinterpreted in various media. As an importer of Energica motorcycles, we remain confident in the brand. Of course, the news from this leading Italian motorcycle manufacturer came as a surprise to us. But incorrect speculative reporting in the media does not really contribute for a solution. Now is the time to maintain peace and tranquility and not get ahead of ourselves.”

Full of confidence
According to Bulthuis, nothing is final yet and there are still plenty of possibilities. As an importer of Energica, Electric Motorcycles Netherlands, together with the dealers, will continue to offer the maximum service to existing owners of Energica motorcycles. “Personally, I remain fully confident in a healthy future for Energica Motor Company through a restart or a suitable successor. A suitable candidate can contact us.”
