The day you knew that would come here is finally: Instagram has released an official app for the iPad. You need to know this.
Instagram has an app for the iPad
For a long time it has been that Instagram would publish an app for the iPad. Somehow that all the time did not work. Until now. There is now finally an official iPados version available in the App store!
Earlier this year, WhatsApp also finally appeared for the iPad. This means that all three Meta apps now have an official app in the App Store for the iPad.

Instagram itself says the following about the release of the new Instagram app:
“With Instagram for iPad, we’ve redesigned the experience to reflect how people use bigger screens today – for lean back entertainment. Now, when you open the app, you’ll drop into reels, so you can get the entertining pleasure you love you love Can Easily Connect With the People That Matter To You, And Messaging is One Tap Away. ”
(“With Instagram for the iPad, we have redesigned the experience to connect with how people now use larger screens: for relaxed entertainment. When you open the app now, you will end up in Reels, so that you can view your favorite entertainment content on a larger screen. At the top you also see Stories so that you can only send contact with the people who are important for you)
This is what the app looks like
Instagram for the iPad therefore focuses in particular on Reels. When you open the app, you go Linea Recta to the Reels page. Stories are available at the top of the interface and there is of course also support for messages.

In the Instagram app for the iPad there is a special tab ‘Follow’ (the second icon on the left, see image above) with various filter options. ‘Everything’ shows recommended posts and reels of accounts that you follow. ‘Friends’ shows recommended posts of accounts that you follow and that also follow you. The ‘newest’ option shows chronological posts and reels from accounts that you follow.

The Instagram app for iPad is designed to take advantage of a larger screen surface, giving you access to more functions with fewer taps. It is now possible to keep track of messages and reports with layouts that display both tabs at the same time. When you look at reels, you can develop the reactions while the reel stays at full size (see image above).
The official Instagram app for the iPad is currently being rolled out and is available for all iPads that support iPados 15.1 and higher.
