Another new update is available for your iPhone! These major issues are resolved with iOS 16.6.
Apple launches iOS 16.6
Apple has launched a new iOS version! iOS 16.6 mainly fixes major issues and performs security updates. iOS 16.5.1 (c) already patched a major security vulnerability in Apple’s Webkit. That’s the program that should run all web browsers in iOS, including Safari and Chrome. The new iOS update fixes even more issues with Webkit.

The leak in Webkit was now generally known, so hackers were also aware of the security problem. Apple therefore previously released iOS 16.5.1 (a) and iOS 16.5.1 (c) to solve the most important problems. iOS 16.6 brings a major update to your iPhone that ends all security vulnerabilities with Webkit and the kernel.
Vulnerability in Find My
Additionally, iOS 16.6 fixes an important Find My vulnerability. Due to a bug in the earlier iOS versions, it was possible for (developers of) apps to view information about your location. It is not known whether this only concerns the location of your iPhone, or also of other contacts who share their location with you in Find My. In any case, this leak has been fixed in iOS 16.6.
Furthermore, iOS 16.6 is mainly intended to fix problems of iOS 16.5. This solves the problem with the smart home standard Matter. If you try to connect a Matter device in a new room via the Home app with the current iOS version, it will not work from the list of available devices. This is possible again in iOS 16.6.
iOS 17 is almost out
It is important to download iOS 16.6 immediately, as most of the security vulnerabilities were already public knowledge. By updating your iPhone, you can be sure that your data is safe again. So no new features are coming to your iPhone with iOS 16.6. That is not very surprising, because iOS 17 is almost appearing.
