Just a little while, and then we can install the big iPhone update of 2022: iOS 16. Its release is one step closer, because Apple has released the iOS 16 beta 7.
iOS 16 beta 7
Apple has been testing the new iPhone software since June, and the company is doing so by releasing betas (test versions). Both developers and public testers can install these. We have now arrived at the seventh beta of iOS 16, and it seems that a release is close.
While Apple added new features or other notable changes in the early betas, iOS 16 beta 7 focuses on improving stability and fixing bugs. So there are no major changes in the beta.
When will iOS 16 be released?
Last week, Bloomberg’s trusted Apple insider Mark Gurman reported that Apple engineers are just about done with the finalization of the official iOS 16 release. The main focus would be on fixing bugs. This means that we can expect the iPhone update soon.

Usually the new iPhone operating system appears in September. This usually happens about a week after the iPhone event. According to Gurman, it will take place early this year: on Wednesday 7 September. This means that we may be able to install iOS 16 as early as the week of September 12. Apple often rolls out the update on a Monday or Tuesday.

iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura and watchOS 9 will also be released this fall. iPadOS 16 appears to have been delayed; we expect that update in October. This also applies to macOS Ventura. The Apple Watch update will likely be released at the same time as iOS 16.
