With iOS 17.1, the battery life of old iPhones will improve a bit. But that is not the case with all iPhones…
iOS 17.1 improves battery life: but not for all iPhones
The most recent update of iOS 17 not only brings new features. According to the YouTube channel iAppleBytes The battery life has also improved slightly compared to iOS 17.

The YouTube channel tested the battery life of five different iPhones that had been updated to iOS 17.1. The screen was set to the same brightness on every iPhone. The other settings were also the same.
As a test, the iPhone SE 2020, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 were examined. The battery life of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone SE 2020 was a lot better.
Only the iPhone 11 and the iPhone XR did not succeed. These iPhones even lasted a lot less time with their battery charge. The result was quite poor, especially with the iPhone 11.
The fact that the battery life of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 is a lot better in iOS 17.1 is of course good news. But there’s a catch. The battery life with iOS 17 is already somewhat worse than with iOS 16.6.1. The YouTube channel had previously seen that the battery life in iOS 17 was a big step back for older models.
More about iOS 17.1
Battery life hasn’t just gotten better in iOS 17.1. There are also a number of new features. AirDrop has received a useful update. Do you start AirDrop and walk away? The file exchange then continues via the Internet. So easy.

The Music app (Apple Music) also gets some useful new features with iOS 17.1. This makes it possible to favorite songs and create cool images for your playlists.
On the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) and iPhone 15 Pro (Max), iOS 17 Standby mode always remains visible. This is in contrast to other models, where this mode disappears from the screen after 20 seconds. Now you also have that option on the above models (in ‘Settings>Standby’), if you prefer not to be stared at by a clock all night.
