Have you already installed iOS 17.3 on your iPhone? Then you can immediately enable the new ‘Stolen device protection’ feature. In this article you can read how it works!
Protection for stolen device
With the Stolen Device Protection feature, it becomes more difficult for thieves to perform certain actions. For example, consider changing your Apple ID password. Normally, with just your iPhone password, a thief can change the Apple ID password and erase your iPhone, but Stolen Device Protection adds Face ID or Touch ID when you’re not in a trusted location.
Stolen Device Protection also introduces a wait time when performing more sensitive actions, such as changing your Apple ID password or your iPhone password. This information can now only be changed one hour after verification via Face ID or Touch ID. This is not necessary at trusted locations.
Enable the feature
Enabling the feature is very easy after installing iOS 17.3. You do this as follows:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap ‘Face ID & Passcode’;
- Enter your access code;
- Scroll down a bit and turn on Stolen Device Protection.
Once the function is enabled, the stated waiting time also applies immediately. You will immediately notice this when you want to disable the function again.
More features in iOS 17.3
In addition to Stolen Device Protection, more innovations are added with iOS 17.3. For example, Apple Music gets a new feature in iOS 17.3. You can now create a shared playlist. Anyone who joins the list can add, remove or change the order of numbers.
AirPlay in hotels will also become possible with iOS 17.3. All you have to do is scan a QR code on the television in the hotel and then you can stream all your favorite content to the TV.
