Apple has released the third public test build of iOS 17.6, but will it bring any new features to iPhone? Here’s what you need to know about iOS 17.6 beta 3.

Developers can already get started with the first test versions of iOS 18, but Apple is also working on an update for iOS 17. The third beta of iOS 17.6 is now available for the iPhone. It is a public test version, so everyone can install the update. You can find the beta in the settings of your iPhone under ‘General > Software Update > Beta Updates’.

It is almost certain that iOS 17.6 is the last version of iOS 17 before Apple releases iOS 18. Therefore, no new features will come to your iPhone with the new update. No new features have appeared in iOS 17.6 beta 3 either. Apple mainly makes improvements in the update, but you will not notice much of this as a user. We will have to wait a little longer for new features, which will come to your iPhone with iOS 18.
Many new features coming soon
Where iOS 17.6 beta 3 brings virtually no changes to your iPhone, iOS 18 does. It is even the biggest update for the iPhone in years. With Apple Intelligence, Apple introduces many features that work with artificial intelligence. With every app, you have access to a handy writing aid and composing texts becomes much easier thanks to the integration of ChatGPT on your iPhone.
In addition, as a user you get more freedom in organizing the home screen and Control Panel of the iPhone. You decide which controls you add to the Control Panel and where they are placed. On the home screen you can give all app icons a different color and applications no longer have to be next to each other. Unfortunately, we do not see these functions in iOS 17.6 beta 3.
Release of iOS 17.6
It’s no surprise that new features are missing from iOS 17.6, as all of the announced features of iOS 17 are now available. Apple brought NameDrop, Diary, and Standby mode to the iPhone with iOS 17. It’s unclear when Apple will release the final version of iOS 17, but we probably won’t have to wait long.

Last year, iOS 16.6 was released on July 24. There’s a good chance that we’ll see iOS 17.6 around the same date this year. And it has to be, because iOS 18 will follow shortly after.
