iOS 18.0.1 is coming
Are you having problems with your iPhone or iPad after installing iOS 18 and iPadOS 18? Then you are not the only one, because many users suffer from errors in the software. To solve these problems, Apple will soon release iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1 for the iPhone and iPad. These are minor updates that do not bring any new functions to the devices.
Users had problems with the touchscreen on a number of iPhones running iOS 18. Parts of the screen no longer respond since installing the update, for example tapping or swiping does not work in some places. According to users, this software error is especially noticeable when typing. The screen does not respond well and that leads to typos, at least with the iPhone 16, iPhone 15 and iPhone 14. iOS 18.0.1 should solve the problems with the iPhone screen.
Major problems with the iPad Pro
In addition to iOS 18.0.1, Apple is also working on iPadOS 18.0.1. That update is perhaps more urgent, because iPadOS 18 made a number of iPad Pro models completely unusable. This concerns the 11- and 13-inch iPad Pro with M4 chip, which were released last spring. After installing iPadOS 18, the devices no longer started, for which no solution has yet been devised.
The unusable iPads must be sent to Apple. It is not yet known whether the tablets will be reset there, or whether Apple will come up with another solution. To prevent more problems, iPadOS 18 is no longer available for the iPad Pro models with M4 chip. These problems have been resolved with iPadOS 18.0.1 and the latest generation of the iPad Pro does support iPadOS 18 again.
Release of iOS 18.0.1
Another issue that iOS 18.0.1 fixes is when sharing Apple Watch faces. The Messages app (or iMessage) regularly crashes when you use a shared watch face. As of iOS 18.0.1, this is no longer the case. We probably won’t have to wait much longer for the update, it is expected that you will be able to update your iPhone and iPad this week or next week.
Apple only fixes problems in the software with iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1, but another update will be released later this month. Apple will also release iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 in October.
