Just update! Apple has released iOS 18.2, bringing many new features to your iPhone. That’s not all, because the company has also made a number of improvements. For example, the Photos app has been adjusted to make the photo library much clearer. Curious about what other changes Apple is making? These are the most important new features that Apple brings to your smartphone with iOS 18.2.
1. Customize default apps
Users in the European Union will have more freedom in setting default apps. This way you decide which application automatically opens for your email, camera and photo library. In addition, it is possible to remove the apps pre-installed by Apple. Think of the Camera app, Safari or even the App Store. Be careful, because it is not always convenient to delete these apps from your iPhone.
2. Dark symbols apps
With iOS 18, the icons of apps got a dark mode for the first time. Apple expands the function in iOS 18.2, because the icons will also appear dark in the settings of your iPhone. In iOS 18.1 we still saw many applications with a white background or light accents, but from iOS 18.2 onwards this is no longer the case. The dark mode is becoming more and more extensive.
3. Camera controller
The camera control of the new iPhone 16 (Plus) and the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) gets a cool function in iOS 18.2. After installing the update, you can fix the camera exposure via the camera controller. You determine the exposure of the image with a light press of the button. Also useful: from iOS 18.2 it is possible to adjust how quickly you have to double-press the camera control.
4. No Apple Intelligence yet
For users outside the European Union, iOS 18.2 is a much bigger update, because Apple is rolling out a number of components of Apple Intelligence there. For example, functions like Image WallGenmoji and Image Playground released here much later, while they are already available in the United States. It is not yet known when exactly Apple Intelligence can be used here. Apple hasn’t announced an official date yet, rumors predict that all AI features will come to the EU in April 2025.
5. More features in iOS 18.2
