iOS 18.4 brings frequently sought after function to iPhone (and that was time)

Apple has released the first three test versions of iOS 18.4! With the next update, there are mainly small changes to your iPhone. For example, a series of new emoji is added and Apple adds a number of functions to the photos app. That is not all, because users in the European Union get more freedom when choosing the standard apps on their iPhone. That is the result of European regulations.

Since iOS 18, European users have many more options in setting their iPhone. You decide which apps are automatically used for your mail, telephone calls and camera. These were previously the Apple applications as standard, but from iOS 18 you can also choose Apps from third parties. This function is expanded in iOS 18.4, because it is finally possible to set a different navigation app.

Apple cards

Do you prefer to use a different app than Apple cards? Then we have good news, because from iOS 18.4 you get the opportunity to choose a standard app for your navigation. Now that is still Apple cards, but soon you can adjust those settings. For example, it is finally possible to set Google Maps or another application, which is then automatically used to navigate.

Since iOS 18 you can adjust under ‘Settings> Apps> Standard apps’ which apps are used to open links on the web, send e-mails and make payments. Here you can also choose from iOS 18.4 which navigation app you use. The application that you select there is then opened by default when you start navigating, for example when tapping an address in another app.

Release of iOS 18.4

With iOS 18.4 you get a handy function if your Apple cards almost never use. It is finally possible, for example, to set Google Maps as a standard app to navigate. Chances are that you can manage even more standard apps later, so you will soon decide which photo library or agenda you use. Adjusting your browser, translation and password app is already possible.

We still have to wait a while for the new position in iOS 18.4, because the update will only be published next month. Apple has already announced that iOS 18.4 will be available in April.
