AirPods get new features in iOS 18

iOS 18 not only brings new features to your iPhone, the AirPods also get new features. The AirPods Pro (first and second generation) in particular are being expanded with new functions. 1. Main gesture control

The AirPods are getting a new way of controlling them, because from iOS 18 you can simply nod yes or shake no to answer Siri. 2. Voice isolation

3. Personalized spatial audio for games

Starting in iOS 18, you can set personalized spatial audio in game mode. This is a new mode coming to your iPhone with iOS 18. With personalized audio it feels like you are in the middle of a movie or series, because the sound comes from all sides and is specially designed for you as a user. This feature is also available from iOS 18 when you play games on your iPhone (or iPad) with your AirPods Pro and AirPods 3, so you can fully immerse yourself in the game.

4. Adaptive audio

The second generation AirPods Pro have adaptive audio, which automatically increases noise cancellation in a busier environment. Currently you can only enable or disable the feature, but from iOS 18 you will get more options. In iOS 18, for example, you can choose how much background noise is blocked by the AirPods Pro 2 with adaptive audio.

5. AirPods Pro as a hearing aid

There is reportedly a new feature coming to iOS 18 that will allow the AirPods Pro to be used as a hearing aid. The usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman previously reported about this, but Apple has not said anything about it yet. This will probably change later this year. The AirPods Pro will then be expanded with advanced accessibility features, which should transform the earphones into a full-fledged hearing aid.
