Apple announces iOS 18
On Monday, September 9, Apple presented the series of new iPhones. Four new iPhones were released again this year: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The release of the new iPhones also means we know when the final release of iOS 18 will be. Apple always announces the biggest iPhone update of the year at the launch of the latest iPhones.
On monday september 16 can you install iOS 18 on your iPhone. That day is the official release of iOS 18. Big changes are coming to your iPhone, because you get much more freedom in setting up the control panel and the lock screen. For example, you decide where to place apps and which controls you add to the control panel. That’s not all, because Apple Intelligence is also coming to your iPhone with iOS 18.
Apple Intelligence coming (much) later
The biggest change in iOS 18 is Apple Intelligence. The company’s latest technology works with artificial intelligence and expands your iPhone with ChatGPT. This makes Siri much smarter and all apps get a handy writing assistant. Unfortunately, Apple Intelligence will not be available immediately with the release of iOS 18, because the functions will reportedly not come to the European Union until 2025.
That means you won’t be able to use Apple Intelligence with the official release of iOS 18. Other changes like the layout of the lock screen, Control Center and the adjusted design of the Photos app will be available immediately on Monday, September 16. These iPhones will get iOS 18
Are you planning to update your iPhone to the latest iOS version? The official release of iOS 18 is likely in the evening, the update is expected to be available on Monday, September 16 at 7:00 PM (Dutch time). So keep a close eye on your iPhone that evening, because the update will automatically appear in the settings of your smartphone. Under ‘General > Software Update’ you will find iOS 18.
Unlike previous years, no iPhones will be eliminated from the release of iOS 18. Typically, older devices no longer receive support for a new generation of iOS, but that is not the case now.
