It has been a while since Apple released iOS 18. The update gave you much more freedom in arranging your home screen and Control Panel, but these are by no means the most important functions. Apple Intelligence is yet to become available in the European Union with a later iOS 18 update. That will probably happen in April, so it will take a while. In the meantime, more and more is becoming clear about iOS 19.
With iOS 19, Siri receives another major update, because the voice assistant is expanded with new language models. Apple is also likely to introduce more Apple Intelligence features in the new software version. Expected release date
Apple is expected to re-release iOS 19 around the same date as previous major iOS updates. In 2024, iOS 18 was released on September 16, iOS 17 was released on September 18, 2023, and iOS 16 was released on September 16, 2022. If Apple keeps the same schedule this year, there is a good chance that the official version of the update will be available to all users in the third week of September.
Apple often releases new software versions on Mondays or Tuesdays. If we look very far ahead, the official release of iOS 19 may stand out Monday September 15 or Tuesday September 16. So put those dates in your calendar, because the biggest iOS update of 2025 will probably be released then. New software versions from Apple are usually released around 7:00 PM (Dutch time).

The official release of iOS 19 will take some time, but the first test versions will be available much earlier. At the beginning of June, Apple will host WWDC, presenting the most important software updates of the year. These are updates such as iOS 19, iPadOS 19, watchOS 12 and tvOS 19. Then we already know exactly which functions will be coming to the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Macs and Apple TV later this year. After WWDC, developers can already start working on all betas of the software.
According to rumors, we will have to wait much longer for the most important features of iOS 19. Apple will only release many of the features with a later software version, as is now also the case with iOS 18.
