Apple presents the newly designed iOS 26 during De Keynote on Monday 9 June, but there is already the best preview of it so far.
iOS 26 Preview: This is what it looks like on the iPhone
The WWDC starts on Monday 9 June and Apple will reveal the large redesign of iOS 26. In the meantime, the well-known designer Sebastiaan de With may have the best preview of the new Apple software so far published. De With is co -founder and designer at LUX, maker of the apps Halide, Kino, Specter and Orion. In the past he has also carried out design projects at Apple.

The full message from De With elaborates on the history of the iPhone design and deals with instructions in iOS 18 that tell something about what we can expect this year. Previous rumors have described the upcoming iOS version as a design with glassy effects based on Visionos. As a result, De With has mentioned his preview of iOS 26 Living Glass.

Living Glass
Since all Apple devices have glass screens, a glassy interface fits perfectly with that. Users then get the feeling that the glass itself comes to life. Buttons and controls seem to be made of a different material and may even respond to other elements in the interface that emit light. And that light shifts a bit, just like the controls in Visionos do when you look at them.
According to the Wilth, these effects can be displayed subtle and dynamically by the system. In comparison, ‘normal’ static interfaces look boring and lifeless. Glass is also excellent for separating content. It can fade the material underneath, but it can also distinguish itself from the background through interaction with light in its environment. Moreover, it can accept the color of the theme of the interface. Glass not only fades the background, but also reflects.

Whether De Wilth is actually right with his iOS 26 Preview will become clear on 9 June. If you don’t want to miss anything, sign up for our newsletter. For more visual material from De Wilth, look at the Lux website.
