If you like to put your own ringtone on your iPhone, you will be happy that this will be much easier in iOS 26. This is how it works.
Set ringtone
It has of course been possible for some time to change the ringtone of your iPhone. In addition, you can choose from a number of standard ringtones. Do you not find a ringtone of your liking in the list on your iPhone? Then you can choose to purchase extra ringtones. Prices vary from 0.99 to 1.29 euros.
In addition, it is possible to set specific ringtones for specific contacts, so that you immediately hear who is calling without having to look on the screen. And then it is still possible to set your own ringtone as a ringtone, but that was not very user -friendly so far. This will change in iOS 26!
iOS 26: Set your own ringtone
So far you had to make a ringtone yourself via the app Garagewhich was certainly not an easy job for everyone. In iOS 26 it is finally possible to simply set your own music file as a ringtone. Everything is possible, as long as it is an MP3 or M4A file and it does not take longer than 30 seconds.
Setting a ringtone has finally become a piece of cake in iOS 26. Just go in the app files to the location of the MP3 or M4A file, press it for a long time and then tap the part button (square with the arrow up). Then choose ‘Use as a ringtone’.

The ringtone is now set. If you want to remove the Ringtone again, it will go in the same way as the removal of the standard ring tones on your iPhone. To do this, go to ‘Settings> Hearing and Feeling> Beltoon’. From there you can also remove the tone by dragging it to the left and tapping ‘deleting’.
