Apple is already busy with iOS 27 and according to the latest rumors, this update brings three new Apple Intelligence functions to your iPhone.
iOS 27 gets three new AI features
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg recently said that iOS 27 and macOS 27 are important updates for Apple Intelligence. This is notable because Apple will likely release massive updates to Siri not long before iOS 27 is unveiled in June. iOS 26.4 will be released in March or April and all indications are that this will be one of the biggest updates to Apple Intelligence yet. Partly thanks to the thorough overhaul of Siri.
Gurman has now shared details about what we can expect in iOS 27. In Bloomberg’s latest newsletter, Gurman mentions three new Apple Intelligence features for iOS 27:
- Visual redesign of Siri
- A search engine with AI
- Health app with AI coach
Gurman said the following about it:
“As I’ve discussed before, a new Siri is slated to come with iOS 26.4, and the voice assistant will get a redesign in iOS 27. There also are plans for an AI-powered web search tool. But let’s focus on a feature I haven’t discussed in a while: a revamped Health app with a new Health+ service. It will include an AI agent that helps users manage their health. If successful, the service could make Apple one of the first major tech companies to gain steam in the health AI chatbot space.”
“As I’ve discussed before, a new Siri is planned for iOS 26.4 and the assistant will get a new design in iOS 27. There are also plans for an AI-enabled search engine and a revamped Health app. This will have an AI coach to help you maintain your health. If this is successful, Apple could become one of the first major tech companies to gain a foothold in AI chatbots for health.”
Unlike the various additions of Apple Intelligence in iOS 26 (most of which are fairly minor upgrades), these three updates are important for attracting new customers.
Apple Intelligence in 2026
In the past, Gurman has talked about Apple’s plans for a redesign of Siri. There might also be a visual personality to make the assistant lifelike. Apparently Apple has already been testing to make Siri resemble the Finder icon.
It may seem strange that Apple will release major new Siri upgrades in iOS 26.4 and then visually redesign Siri for iOS 27. Apple may be doing this to better manage user expectations. If the first spring update is a success, a visual upgrade after that makes sense to show the general public that Siri is truly new and improved. Regardless, 2026 seems to be an important year for Apple Intelligence.
