iPad 11 may not get Apple Intelligence support after all

According to previous rumors, the iPad 11 will support Apple Intelligence, but a new rumor contradicts this.

iPad 11 will not have Apple Intelligence support

We wrote not so long ago that the iPad 11 (also called iPad 2025) would receive the A18 or A17 Pro chip and therefore support for Apple Intelligence. An anonymous source on X (formerly Twitter) now says that this is not the case after all.

The anonymous account on X has a good reputation when it comes to sharing iOS-related information. According to this source, the iPad 11 will be equipped with a chip with identification T8120. That identification corresponds to the A16 chip, which does not support Apple Intelligence. Existing devices with the A16 chip include the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

Who is right?

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg previously said that the iPad 11 would have the A17 Pro chip and 8 GB of RAM, which is currently the minimum iPad specification for Apple Intelligence. The latest iPad mini also has the A17 Pro and 8 GB of RAM. But if the new rumor is correct, the next entry-level model of the iPad will have the A16 chip with 6 GB of RAM. This means that either there will be no Apple Intelligence support for the iPad 11, or Apple will lower the minimum specifications for the iPad.

So the question is who is right: Gurman or the anonymous account. Both sources are quite reliable with Apple rumors. She is only wrong occasionally. Or maybe they’re both right and Apple will eventually release different versions of the iPad 11?

Either way, Apple will likely announce the iPad 11 in March or April. Besides the improved specifications, no major changes are expected. According to Gurman, Apple also plans to release an updated Magic Keyboard for the iPad 11.
